Botticino Classico

also known as Botticino Marble, Italian Beige Marble, Botticino Semiclassico

One of the most exported Italian stones for over a century, Botticino Classico is a warm beige Jurassic limestone from the hills above Brescia in Lombardy. Though marketed as a marble (it takes a fine polish), it is technically a compact limestone. Its warm ivory-beige is ubiquitous in Italian public buildings, shopping centres, airports, and luxury hotels globally. Botticino was used in the interiors of the Victor Emmanuel II Monument in Rome, confirming its prestige status.

Good to know

What is the difference between Botticino Classico and Botticino Semiclassico?

Botticino Classico is the premium grade: more uniform warm beige with minimal variation. Botticino Semiclassico has slightly more colour and fossil variation, giving a more organic character. Classico commands a premium.

Is Botticino suitable for kitchen countertops?

As a limestone, it is acid-sensitive and will etch if exposed to citrus, vinegar or wine. Sealed and properly maintained honed Botticino is workable for kitchen use, but polished Botticino will show etching easily.
