Galala Limestone

also known as Galala Cream, Egyptian Galala, Galala Marble

One of Egypt's most widely exported natural stones: a warm cream-to-ivory Eocene limestone from the Galala Mountain plateau in the Eastern Desert. Consistently fine-grained, with a pale beige body and minimal veining. Quarried in large volumes from the Ain Sokhna quarry zone, it is a reliable and cost-competitive choice for floors, walls and exterior cladding across the Mediterranean basin and beyond.

Good to know

Is Galala Limestone suitable for high-traffic floors?

Yes. Its density (around 2.72 g/cm³) and moderate absorption rate make it well-suited to commercial flooring when honed or lightly antiqued. Polished finishes are popular in hospitality interiors.

How does Galala compare to Crema Marfil?

Both are warm cream limestones with broad commercial availability. Galala is slightly denser and tends to show a more uniform grain; Crema Marfil (Spanish) has more tonal variation and a creamier saturation. Price points are comparable.
