Gazgan Marble

also known as Gazgan White, Uzbek Marble, Central Asian White Marble

Quarried in the Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan, Gazgan Marble has been used extensively across Soviet Central Asia and beyond. A white to light grey metamorphic marble, it was the material of choice for Soviet-era public buildings, metro stations, and civic monuments. Today it is exported primarily to Middle Eastern and Central Asian markets but is increasingly available via European stone distributors. A reliable, consistent white marble with good block yield from established quarries.

Good to know

Is Gazgan Marble comparable to Carrara White?

In colour and general appearance it is similar: white to pale grey with subtle veining. However it lacks the refined tonal variation of top-grade Carrara. It is a cost-effective white marble for large-scale projects where a consistent neutral white is required.

Is Uzbek marble available for export to the USA?

Yes, via European stone intermediaries or direct from Uzbek exporters. Transit times are longer than for Mediterranean stone. Specify exact project quantities early to allow for supply lead times.
