Good to know

What causes the blue shimmer in Larvikite?

The iridescence — called schiller or labradorescence — comes from large labradorite feldspar crystals that diffract light internally, producing a shifting blue-silver play of colour unique to this plutonic rock from Larvik, Norway.

Is Larvikite durable outdoors?

Highly so. As a dense igneous rock with very low water absorption, Larvikite is freeze-thaw resistant and ideal for facades, paving and external cladding in any climate.
