Norway · Granite
also known as Blue Pearl, Emerald Pearl, Norwegian Granite, Blue Pearl GT
A striking Norwegian anorthosite with a legendary blue-silver labradorescence (Schiller effect): flat in diffuse light, alive and shifting in sunlight. One of the most distinctive architectural stones in the world and among the most durable natural stones for exterior use.
Type-level physical facts shown. Per-lot lab values (absorption, flexural strength) confirmed at quotation.
The iridescence — called schiller or labradorescence — comes from large labradorite feldspar crystals that diffract light internally, producing a shifting blue-silver play of colour unique to this plutonic rock from Larvik, Norway.
Highly so. As a dense igneous rock with very low water absorption, Larvikite is freeze-thaw resistant and ideal for facades, paving and external cladding in any climate.
