The marble of the Parthenon and the Acropolis, quarried at Mount Pentelikon since antiquity. A fine-grained, slightly warm white marble that develops a golden patina with age — the defining stone of classical Greek architecture.

Pentelicon marble contains trace amounts of iron pyrite which oxidise on exposure to air and rain, developing the characteristic warm honey-gold patina visible on ancient Greek monuments.
