also known as Pietra Dorata Euganea, Vicenza Stone, Giallo di Vicenza, Palladio Stone
The stone of Palladio. Pietra di Vicenza is the warm golden limestone quarried in the Colli Berici and Euganei hills of the Veneto, used by Andrea Palladio throughout Vicenza in the Basilica, the Teatro Olimpico and the great villas of the Venetian hinterland. Its earthy, honey-coloured warmth is among the most recognisable in European architecture and prized for prestige new-build projects.
