Baltic Black

also known as Nero di Finlandia, Finnish Black, Kuru Black

One of the truest black stones available globally: a fine-grained gabbro quarried in Pirkanmaa, Finland. Under polished finish the surface appears completely black with no visible crystals, giving a mirror-like depth found in very few stones. Technically a gabbro (not granite), its mechanical properties surpass most granites: exceptional hardness, near-zero porosity and outstanding frost resistance. Used for countertops, facade panels, monuments and flooring where an uncompromising black surface is required.

Good to know

Is Baltic Black the same as Absolute Black?

The names overlap in trade. 'Absolute Black' is also applied to Indian gabbros and South African stones. Finnish Baltic Black (Nero di Finlandia) is quarried in Pirkanmaa and is considered among the finest quality sources for its consistent uniformity and very low porosity.
