Kavala Blue Marble

also known as Blue Kavala, Kavala Blue Stone, Drama Blue, Macedonian Blue

A distinctive blue-grey metamorphic limestone-marble from the Kavala/Drama region of Northern Greece. The stone's characteristic cool grey-blue tone — uniform, dense, with very fine grain — makes it one of Europe's most architecturally compelling grey stones. Quarried in the same geological belt as Drama White, it is the chromatic counterpart: where Drama White is bright and bright-veined, Kavala Blue is solid, cool and monolithic. Used in prestige facades, external paving and bold interior statements.

Good to know

Is Kavala Blue a true marble or a limestone?

It is a metamorphic rock technically classified between a crystalline limestone and a marble. In trade it is sold as marble. Its behaviour in processing (polish, cut, edge profiling) is consistent with marble.

Is it suitable for exterior facades?

Yes — its density and low absorption rate make it suitable for ventilated facade systems and exterior paving. It has been specified for public buildings in Greece and across Southeast Europe.
