Montenegrin Tenelija

also known as Tenelija Stone, Kotor Limestone, Adriatic White Limestone

Tenelija is the traditional soft limestone that has built the medieval walled city of Kotor (UNESCO World Heritage) and the coastal towns of Adriatic Montenegro for over a thousand years. A compact, cream-white to pale grey Cretaceous limestone, easily worked with hand tools when freshly quarried and hardening with exposure. Its warm ivory tones and fine texture are distinctive of Montenegrin coastal architecture and gaining interest in the premium Mediterranean and luxury hospitality design sector.
