also known as Persian Grey, Iran Grey
A dark charcoal-grey Iranian marble with fine, restrained white veining. Consistent and available in volume, it has become a contemporary benchmark for dark feature floors and walls.
Type-level physical facts shown. Per-lot lab values (absorption, flexural strength) confirmed at quotation.
Pietra Grey is sourced from marble beds in northwestern Iran, where geological pressure has produced a dense, even stone with a dark grey ground and restrained white movement. Its consistency across slabs has made it a contemporary benchmark for large dark interior installations.
Geology. Dense crystalline marble, calcite-dominant; the dark charcoal ground comes from carbonaceous inclusions and mineral banding. Fine white calcite veins trace the stone's tectonic fabric.

Dark grey Iranian marbles have become a standard specification for luxury hotel corridors and spa interiors in Europe, where consistent tone across large areas is critical.
Persian grey marbles are widely specified in Gulf luxury residential developments for their uniform dark tone and volume availability.
It is valued for its relatively uniform dark ground and quiet veining, which makes it easier to specify across large areas than more dramatic dark marbles.
Both come from the same Iranian stone family. Pietra Grey is typically the mid-tone grade; Grafite Grey the slightly darker, more consistent version. They are often stocked side by side and the difference is commercial grading rather than geology.
It can be specified outdoors in non-freeze-thaw climates when properly sealed and honed, but check the specific lot's absorption data first. Most interior specifications use polished finish.
