Rhodope White Marble

also known as Bulgarian White Marble, Marmor Rhodopen, Rhodopes Marble, Byal Mramor

A white to pale cream metamorphic marble quarried from the Rhodope Mountains in southern Bulgaria — one of the Balkans' primary marble-producing regions. The Rhodope belt contains extensive marble deposits exploited since antiquity: the ancient Thracian city of Philippopolis (modern Plovdiv) used local Rhodope marble for its public buildings. Today multiple quarries supply white marble slabs to European and international markets. Consistent pale white body with minimal inclusions; a reliable workhorse white marble from a lesser-known but high-quality European source.
