Slovak Travertine

also known as Travertino Slovacco, Besnova Travertine, Central European Travertine

Central Europe's own travertine. Slovakia holds some of Europe's largest travertine deposits, actively quarried since the 19th century. Slovak travertine is a warm cream to light buff calcium carbonate stone with the characteristic open-pore texture of travertine, comparable in tone to Roman Travertine but with a finer, more uniform surface. It has supplied hotel lobbies, civic buildings and residential interiors across Central and Eastern Europe for generations.

Good to know

How does Slovak travertine compare to Roman travertine?

Slovak travertine is slightly lighter and finer-grained than classical Roman travertine. It lacks the large dramatic pores of Tivoli quarries but gains in uniformity and ease of polishing. Both are cream/ivory warm-toned travertines suitable for similar applications.
