Iraqi Cream Travertine

also known as Mesopotamian Travertine, Baghdad Cream, Al-Haditha Travertine

Iraq sits above one of the world's most extensive Tertiary limestone and travertine belts. The Euphrates valley travertines are a warm cream to ivory material with the characteristic open-cell texture of continental travertines, closely comparable in tone to Persian and Roman travertines. Historically used in Mesopotamian and Islamic architecture; the stone has re-entered international trade through Kurdish regional operations and Iraqi-European trading partnerships. Commercial availability remains limited but growing.

Good to know

Is Iraqi travertine available for US projects?

In limited quantities, typically sourced via European stone trading houses. Verify import status and tariff classification before specifying (HTS 6802.92). Lead times are longer than European travertines and consistency should be confirmed per consignment.
