Italy · Limestone
also known as Nembro Pink, Rosato di Nembro
A fossil-rich pink limestone from the Brembana valley near Bergamo, quarried since Roman times. Its warm rose-pink ground is studded with pale shell and crinoid fossils, giving the stone a lively, organic character. A classic of Lombard and northern Italian architecture, at home in period and contemporary interiors alike.
Type-level physical facts shown. Per-lot lab values (absorption, flexural strength) confirmed at quotation.
The pink coloration comes from iron minerals and microscopic fossils within the limestone matrix, formed from ancient marine sediments in the Bergamo Prealps during the Mesozoic era.
It is available in slab format but quarry volumes are limited compared to larger Italian stone districts. Discuss availability and lead times with your sourcing desk.
