Noir de Béni-Mellal

also known as Noir du Maroc, Black Morocco Marble, Beni Mellal Black

A dense, deep-black crystalline limestone-marble from the Béni-Mellal region of central Morocco, quarried on the northern flanks of the High Atlas. One of Africa's most elegant dark stones: uniformly black body, tight grain, high polish potential. Increasingly in demand for luxury hospitality interiors, kitchen countertops and dramatic facade accents. Often compared to Nero Marquina (Spain) but with a larger-grain texture.

Good to know

How does Noir de Béni-Mellal compare to Nero Marquina?

Noir de Béni-Mellal is typically coarser-grained with fewer white vein inclusions than Nero Marquina. The result is a more uniformly black surface. Nero Marquina's white veining is its signature feature; Béni-Mellal black is prized for its flat, uninterrupted darkness.

Is it available in large format slabs?

Yes, blocks are quarried in sufficient size for standard slab cutting (typically 280–300 cm × 160–180 cm). The stone's density and tight grain reduce the risk of natural fissures common in more veined marbles.
